Professor Igweonu joins from the University of the Arts London (UAL), where he currently serves in a dual leadership role. He is the Provost of London College of Communication (LCC), providing academic leadership and direction to one of the world’s largest and most diverse institutions for creative communication education, while also holding cross-institutional responsibility for Impact and Innovation at UAL.

A champion of inclusive and future-focused education, Professor Igweonu has supported initiatives such as the Black Creatives Hub, a digital platform celebrating the work of Black students, staff, and alumni. His career spans senior academic roles at Middlesex University and Canterbury Christ Church University, where he led strategic partnerships, knowledge exchange, and research excellence.

He is also a prominent figure in the creative education sector, having served as Chair of DramaHE and President of the African Theatre Association, and is currently a Council Member for Creative UK. He is a Fellow of both the Higher Education Academy and the Leadership Foundation.

Speaking about the appointment, Vice-Chancellor Professor Donna Whitehead said:

Professor Igweonu shared his enthusiasm for joining the University:

Professor Igweonu will take up the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor on 8 December 2025. He succeeds Professor Andrew Lloyd, who is retiring from the 亚洲麻豆精品在线 after 39 years of exceptional service and dedication.
